I learned a lot with this assignment. I still don't think I am very good at using PowerPoint, but I am getting better. I am becoming more familiar with the menu bars and how to insert pictures, slides, and alt text. I had to use one of my tokens on this assignment because the switching between pages were really confusing me. I got it, but it took a lot of time. I understand that this assignment was for PowerPoint literacy, but I struggled too much with coming up with new ideas and facts to add. I like being creative, but trying to come up with a whole Jeopardy game about any random topic was difficult. If there was a subject area or instruction given about what to do a Jeopardy about I think I would have been able to focus more on the PowerPoint skills than the information provided.
I appreciated how in this class we did a survey in the middle of the semester to reflect on what we liked and disliked about the class. I feel as teachers we expect our students to always try their best and so, as teachers, we should always be trying to get better and serve our students the way they need. I would use this data collection in the classroom to do just that. I think reflection surveys for field trips, projects, and the class overall would be very helpful. I think I would start using surveys in the classroom around 4th grade. Before 4th grade, I would consider using a survey with my parents. The surveys were really easy to use and having more information and reflection can't hurt.
I would like to learn how to edit my own videos. I have only ever used iMovie or easy platforms like that. I would like to learn how to use Adobe for video editing. So, my SMART goal will be to use Adobe to make one video by the end of next semester. Being able to make videos for the classroom can help with substitute teachers, cross-classroom standards for a whole grade, and in case of another crisis like the pandemic, knowing how to make and edit my own videos would be helpful.
