I learned a lot with this assignment. I still don't think I am very good at using PowerPoint, but I am getting better. I am becoming more familiar with the menu bars and how to insert pictures, slides, and alt text. I had to use one of my tokens on this assignment because the switching between pages were really confusing me. I got it, but it took a lot of time. I understand that this assignment was for PowerPoint literacy, but I struggled too much with coming up with new ideas and facts to add. I like being creative, but trying to come up with a whole Jeopardy game about any random topic was difficult. If there was a subject area or instruction given about what to do a Jeopardy about I think I would have been able to focus more on the PowerPoint skills than the information provided.  I appreciated how in this class we did a survey in the middle of the semester to reflect on what we liked and disliked about the class. I feel as teachers we expect our students to always try their bes...

I only ever experienced distance learning during COVID. During COVID, Zoom just started emerging as a distance learning technology and we used it every day. We also used Canvas and Google suite as our main communication and assignment platforms. I had a friend use Mural in one of her classes and it seemed really interesting. It is kind of similar to one of the platforms we have used in this class, but more controlled. It uses the same collaborative sticky notes, but you can organize and limit students' tools.       OER resources are educational resources that reside under public domain. So, anyone can use these resources for free. The resource that I linked below is a distance learning tool for learning sentence structure. It includes online resources for students to be engaged. It linked songs, kahoots, and worksheets for the students to complete their assignments. This would be a great resource to use in the classroom to make sentence structure ...

 1. I think I aquired a lot of new skills from working on the Web Design assignment. I think I am getting better at creating my Creative Commons Licenses for my work. I have gotten to the point where I know what I want to share and what I don't. I also think I caught on pretty quickly to linking external pages and my accounts to the website. I had always wondered how people did that, but now I know. I have also never been one to use Google Calendar, but being able to make the events show up in the shared, public Google Calendar was really easy. I think that would be a great tool in the classroom. The thing that I disliked about this assignemtn was Weebly. The site crashed while I was working on the assignment and deleted my work. It kept saying loading for 2 hours and when I refreshed my computer, all of my work was gone. I was able to redo my work, but it was a little frustrating. I can definitely see myself using a website or something similar with my future class, but maybe thro...

Teacher websites and access to information online is really important. Some schools require this information to be readily available to the public. I found a teacher website for a teacher at my old high school. Information on this website included her different preps that she taught displayed on the top menu bar. The menu bar included general IA tips (an IB class requirement), AP statistics information, Honors Statistics information, and Analysis and Interpretations information. The tabs had information about summer homework, class expectations, test prep, and syllabi.  Bullock Site (google.com)     I envision myself using technology in the classroom daily. I think supplemental videos and games is important to keep students engaged. I really like platforms like Canvas for assignments and class dojo for class economies. I think as an elementary school teacher I will start to teach about the importance of using your own work and crediting sources and may...

So far, I have been enjoying writing these blogs. It definitely helps me reflect on what we've learned in class and commit it to long term memory. I also like the autosave feature. I like to start the assignment at the beginning of the week and then add what I have learned as we go. This has been a really good strategy, but I also struggle with getting the blogs in on time because I work on them little by little. I don't know how to explain it fully, but because I have been working on it gradually, I forget that I did not actually turn it in. In this process, however, I think I have learned how easy it is to do and how this would be a valuable resource in the classroom.       An interesting Web 2.0 tool that I could use in the classroom is Glogster. Glogster is a platform that students and teachers can use to share and create visual aids. The teacher can make Glogster "classrooms" and the students can post images and posters called Glogs that are ...

While exploring the Florida standards on technology, I thought that the standard for applying foundational computer competency skills was particularly interesting. While looking at the 5th grade applications, this standard manifests as how to use technology and apply it to learning. The specific benchmarks included skills like typing with correct finger placement, putting together slides presentations, understanding keyboard shortcuts, and understanding how computers and their software work and interact. So, this standard deals with the actual implementation of computer skills and the students' ability to use computers for learning. I think I would be able to implement this skill set with the knowledge I already have. I think there are a lot of programs online that offer support for students in how to type and how to use a computer. Google has lots of user-friendly outlets and shortcuts that was easy for me to use as a student and would be easy for my students to und...

Copyright refers to the  protections of one's works and intellectual property. Copyright can be applied to any piece of work a person creates and have a copyright symbol applied to it. A copyright can be obtained legally, with the copyright symbol, or through a separate Collective Commons license. The Collective Commons license is like a copyright in the ownership of intellectual property, but it also specifies how the author allows it to be used. This can be specification like use only with attribution, only with non-profits, or with no changes to the original work. Fair use is similar to copyright, but it refers to what and how much of a piece of work is being used. Fair use applies to nonprofit or educational purposes. The amount of the piece of work depends on the creator and how the use will affect the creator. I had no idea that fair use was a thing or you could get a Collective Commons license, so this is really interesting. I plan on teaching elementary...
