I only ever experienced distance learning during COVID. During COVID, Zoom just started emerging as a distance learning technology and we used it every day. We also used Canvas and Google suite as our main communication and assignment platforms. I had a friend use Mural in one of her classes and it seemed really interesting. It is kind of similar to one of the platforms we have used in this class, but more controlled. It uses the same collaborative sticky notes, but you can organize and limit students' tools.
OER resources are educational resources that reside under public domain. So, anyone can use these resources for free. The resource that I linked below is a distance learning tool for learning sentence structure. It includes online resources for students to be engaged. It linked songs, kahoots, and worksheets for the students to complete their assignments. This would be a great resource to use in the classroom to make sentence structure more interesting, even if your class isn't distance learning.
I have used powerpoint before and knew a lot of the skills going into this assignment. However, I had never made a layout for myself or used alt text on a powerpoint. I would usually lean towards using google slides in the classroom or Canva, but it was good to widen my range. I always find it a little difficult to come up with ideas for these assignments, though, because I don't actually have a class or a curriculum to go off of. As always, I can work ahead and get the assignments done earlier.
